The Mk. II version of the Valentine infantry tank was armed with the proven QF-2 pounder 40mm gun. Under different Mk´s over 8.000 vehicles were produced from 1940- 1944. The British used it mainly in the North African campaign against Germans, over 3.000 Valentines of various types were received by the USSR. In September 1941 the first Valentine Mk. II tanks were sent by sea with Northern convoys to help the Red Army fighting the Germans under the Lend-Lease Treaty. End of November 1941 Soviet battalions equipped with these tanks went into battle, and the last use of the Soviet "Valentines" was in 1945 against the Japanese in Manchuria.
