Soviet heavy tank IS-4 adopted into service in April 1946. the tank was produced from 1947 to 1949. For the mid-1940s the tank had excellent armour performance. No tank gun could penetrate the tank from a distance of 1000 metres at the time of adoption. One of the vehicle's features was its original ammunition stowage. In the IS-4, the shells were placed in special metal cassettes.
