On March 18, 1965, Alexei Leonov became the first person in history to perform a spacewalk. The Voskhod 2 commander was Pavel Belyaev. This type of spacecraft was a multi-crew version of the single-pilot Vostok. The Voskhod 2 capsule featured a reconfigured cabin without ejection seats and an inflatable airlock.
