Our products teach people to take pride in our history, promote interest in the military history of other countries while also helping people appreciate the uniqueness and power of the products of Russia's modern military.
In our best traditions we've been manufacturing state of the art model kits and high quality reasonably priced board games for almost thirty years, thus making them affordable and enjoyable for people of all ages all over the world.
The company was founded in 1990 by a group of modelling enthusiasts headed up by Konstantin Krivenko, they were driven by the idea to turn their hobby into a profession and offer the product that was at the time sorely lacking in the Russian market. In 1993 Zvezda won in an investment contest and obtained a production facility, the Lobnya Plastic Toy Factory. The company implemented an equipment upgrade at the factory and built a brand new manufacturing shop. It is where our main production capacity is located, which allows us to constantly expand and improve our product range.
Over the years, Zvezda has emerged from a small privately owned firm into the largest manufacturer of model kits and board games in Russia.
Our philosophy is to develop and design all of our products in house. Experienced designers create new plastic kits which are engineered by our toolmakers working with high tech equipment. Plastic moulding , packing and warehousing are all done in our Lobnya factory near Moscow. This system guarantees the constantly high quality of our products.
Today we have over 210 employees, many of whom have been with us since the company was founded. We are successfully penetrating foreign markets and since 1994 we've been one of Russia's largest children toy exporters. For more than 25 years Zvezda has been a regular participant in the largest international fairs such as Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg, Germany, Spiel in Essen, Germany, and others. Our products have secured a competitive edge over others in the market, not just in Russia but abroad as well: in Europe, America, Asia and Oceania. Our products are available in more than 80 countries around the world.
Over 500 products are offered under the Zvezda brand, our product range is constantly expanding. We manufacture scale model kits of civilian and military equipment (aircraft, ships, armoured fighting vehicles, motor vehicles), along with scale models of cavalry and infantry units of various countries and historical periods from ancient to modern times.
We are striving to deliver the utmost authenticity in our models replicating as much detail as possible in the reduced scale. This is possible thanks to close cooperation with leading Russian and foreign design companies, such as Sukhoi Design Bureau, Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, Uralvagonzavod, GAZ, Boeing, Airbus, and others.
In 2010 we released a series of model kits allowing the users to assemble the models without the use of glue.This range is very diverse, with historical credibility of each subject being confirmed by military historians and professional magazines specializing in military equipment and modelling. All the models in this series can be easily assembled and entered into a specially developed gaming system called the Art of Tactics.
Our product range also includes a special series of glue-free model kits for beginners & young model collectors.
Zvezda successfully cooperates with the Walt Disney Company and Lucas Films (including the legendary Star Wars franchise).
Since 2000 we have been successfully selling family oriented board games. Our company not only makes board games licensed by domestic and foreign authors but we design our own games, doing everything from basic game mechanics to the manufacture of the final product. Today our range includes over 100 developmental and educational board games, many of which have been translated into English, German and French and are successfully selling abroad.
We cooperate with leading Russian animation studios, releasing entertainment and educational board games featuring characters from popular cartoons such as Kikoriki (Smeshariki), Glitch Fixers, Be-Be Bears, Prostokvashino, Arkady the Steam Engine and others.
