At the end of 1943, Soviet engineers created and launched the IS-2 heavy tank, which was developed based on the experience of using heavy tanks in the early years of the war. The new tank received a powerful 122mm cannon, good armor and mobility. Throughout the serial production, the tank was constantly being upgraded. The vehicles produced between December 44 and February 45 received the DShK anti-aircraft machine gun and the installation of smoke bombs in the stern. In the battles of 44-45, the IS-2 was successfully used against enemy heavy tanks, during the storming of cities and fortified positions.
