Russian infantry fighting vehicle BMP-3 was created in the 1980s to operate alongside modern tanks. Serial production began at the Kurgan Machine-Building Plant in 1987. Public first saw the BMP-3 at a parade on May 9, 1990. The BMP-3's troop compartment can accommodate up to 7 soldiers and its own crew of commander, gunner, and driver. Armament: 100-mm 2A70 gun, 30-mm 2A72 automatic cannon, and three 7.62-mm machine guns. The Russian BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle accelerates to 70 km/h on the highway and can swim at speeds of up to 10 km/h. Operated by the Russian Army and the coastal troops of the Navy. It is used in a dozen countries abroad, including the UAE and South Korea.
